A good CCTV system starts before any camera is mounted. Our installation service begins with a site survey in which we walk the facility, identify the scenes that matter (entrances, tills, loading bays, perimeter lines, server rooms), and decide camera type and field of view for each. We calculate pixel density (PPM/PPF) so that faces and licence plates are actually identifiable — not just "something moved". We then produce a camera schedule, a cabling plan, a switch/PoE budget, and a storage calculation based on resolution, frame rate, codec (H.265+ where supported) and retention days.

Installation covers: structured Cat6/Cat6A cabling and containment; PoE / PoE+ switches sized to the camera load with headroom; weatherproof and IK-rated housings for outdoor and industrial sites; surge protection for rooftop and perimeter runs in the Saudi climate; and neat, labelled termination in the comms room. We commission each camera, set time zone to Arabia Standard Time, configure NTP, and apply a documented IP addressing scheme so the estate is maintainable for years.

Hardware on a wall is not a security system until it is configured correctly. We activate every device with a strong, unique password (Hikvision requires this on first use — there is no shipped default password on current firmware), update firmware to a known-good version, and disable insecure services. We then bring cameras into the NVR, set main-stream and sub-stream resolutions/bitrates appropriately (high quality for recording, light sub-stream for remote viewing), and configure continuous, motion, and event-based recording schedules.

For integration and third-party recording we set up RTSP streaming using the standard Hikvision URL: rtsp://<user>:<pass>@<ip>:554/Streaming/Channels/101 for the channel-1 main stream and /102 for its sub-stream (channel 2 = 201/202, and so on). We confirm the default RTSP port 554, HTTP 80 / HTTPS 443 for web access, and the 8000 service port used by iVMS-4200 and Hik-Connect, and we open only what is needed. We enable ONVIF (Profile S/G) and ISAPI where another VMS, an access-control panel, or analytics needs to consume the stream. Most clients want to see their cameras from a phone, a manager's PC, and a control room — without exposing recorders directly to the internet. We deploy the right tool for each case. iVMS-4200 is the free Windows/macOS client for unified live view, playback, and device configuration of DVRs, NVRs, IP cameras and access-control devices on a LAN or VPN. Hik-Connect is the cloud P2P service that gives end users mobile and web access without manual port-forwarding, while Hik-ProConnect is the installer-facing portal for remote device management and health monitoring across many sites.

We configure whichever model fits your security posture: cloud P2P for simplicity, VPN-only for sensitive sites, or a hybrid. We set up users and roles, motion/line-crossing/intrusion push notifications, e-mail alerts, and (for multi-branch retail or facilities) a consolidated wall of all sites. For larger deployments we can step up to Hikvision HikCentral Professional as a true VMS.

Where SKYLINE adds the most value is integration. Because Hikvision devices speak open ONVIF and ISAPI, and expose RTSP streams, we can pull Hikvision cameras into our own SKYLINE Security Management System (SSMS) and into third-party VMS, building-management, and operations platforms. That means a single pane of glass that combines Hikvision video with access control, alarms, ANPR/licence-plate events, and site dashboards — rather than a stack of disconnected apps.

Cameras fail silently — a dead channel is useless exactly when you need the footage. Our support service keeps systems healthy: scheduled health checks (camera online status, recording continuity, disk SMART health on the NVR), firmware lifecycle management, and a clear fault-resolution path. Common issues we resolve include cameras showing as offline or flapping, "no resource" / over-budget PoE faults, recording gaps and overwriting, time drift, RTSP/ONVIF handshake failures with third-party systems, password/lockout recovery, and image problems (IR over-exposure, focus, ColorVu vs IR mode).
