CMMS implementation project

Rollout of a computerised maintenance management system: asset register, preventive maintenance plans, work orders, spare parts and a mobile app for technicians, with your data migrated and your team trained.

Typical scope, not a case study

This page describes a typical project of this kind. It is not a record of a specific client project, and the final scope is always set after a site survey.

When clients usually call us

  • Maintenance run on spreadsheets, paper or email
  • Plants working towards ISO 55001-aligned asset management
  • Hospitals and facilities that need traceable maintenance records
  • Teams that want work orders on their phones

What is typically included

The usual scope. Items are added or removed after the survey, and each one is listed in the proposal.

  1. Asset survey and taggingWalk-down of the site, asset data collection and QR or barcode labels.
  2. Asset hierarchy and failure codesLocations, systems and equipment arranged in a clear hierarchy, with failure codes based on ISO 14224.
  3. Preventive maintenance plansTime- and meter-based plans built from manufacturer manuals and your own practice.
  4. Work order workflowRequests, approvals, assignment and closure, with the records your audits need.
  5. Spare parts and storesStock items, minimum levels and parts linked to work orders.
  6. Mobile appTechnicians receive, update and close work orders on their phones.
  7. IntegrationsLinks to ERP, purchasing or condition-monitoring sensors where needed.
  8. Dashboards and KPIsBacklog, preventive maintenance compliance, MTBF and MTTR.

How this project runs

  1. Stage 1 Discovery

Current process, data sources and the reports you need.

  2. Stage 2 Configuration

Hierarchy, workflows, roles and plans set up in the system.

  3. Stage 3 Data migration and tagging

Existing data cleaned and imported, assets labelled.

  4. Stage 4 Pilot

One area goes live first, so the setup is proven before rollout.

  5. Stage 5 Rollout and training

All areas live, with training for planners, technicians and managers.

Deliverables at handover

  • Asset register and hierarchy
  • Preventive maintenance plans
  • Configured workflows and user roles
  • Migrated historical data
  • User guides for each role
  • Training records

Standards we design to

  • ISO 55001Asset management systems
  • ISO 14224Equipment reliability and failure data
  • EN 13306Maintenance terminology
  • EN 15341Maintenance key performance indicators

Listing a standard here means we design and work to it. It does not mean Skyline holds a certificate for that standard.

What we will ask you before we quote

  • Your current asset lists, spreadsheets or legacy system exports
  • How maintenance requests are raised and approved today
  • Number of sites, users and technicians
  • Systems the CMMS must connect to, such as ERP or purchasing

Questions about this scope

Which CMMS do you implement?

Skyline’s own CMMS, part of the Skyline Nexus platform. If you already own a CMMS, ask us whether the same scope can be applied to configuring and cleaning up that system.

Do all assets need tags before go-live?

No. Critical assets are usually tagged first, and the rest are added area by area during rollout.

What data do you need from us?

Whatever you have today: asset lists, maintenance history, manuals and spare parts lists. Missing data is collected during the site walk-down.

Other projects we deliver

All typical scopes

  • Control room desk with HMI screens showing process graphics

    SCADA and OT

    SCADA and OT integration

Design, build and commissioning of a SCADA system that brings PLCs, RTUs and field instruments onto one supervisory platform, with clear alarms, historian data and secure remote access.

See the typical scope: SCADA and OT integration
  • Data centre aisle between rows of server racks

    Data centre

Data centre and server room build

Design and build of a data centre or server room: power, cooling, containment, fire detection and suppression, cabling and monitoring, laid out so any component can be maintained without shutting the room down.

See the typical scope: Data centre and server room build
  • Clean-agent fire suppression cylinders in a server room

    Fire safety

    Fire detection and suppression

Design, installation and commissioning of fire detection and suppression for plants, warehouses, electrical rooms and server rooms, including the drawings and documents your Civil Defense submission needs.
